Whyteleafe Nursery

At Abbey Wood Grange, we strive to provide a warm, nurturing environment where children aged 3 months to 5 years thrive through play, sensory experiences, and guided routines.

While based in Kenley, we are just under 2 miles from Whyteleafe and on a bus and train route, making us easily accessible from Sanderstead, Purley, Caterham, Coulsdon, and Warlingham.

Our rooms are designed to support every stage of development, from calm spaces for babies to creative areas for toddlers and pre-schoolers. Children can explore our fully enclosed garden to spark curiosity, enjoy the calming sensory room to build focus and emotional growth, and develop physical confidence in the soft-play room.

What Our Nursery Offers

Our nursery offers a warm, nurturing environment where curiosity and confidence grow. We provide dedicated rooms for each stage of your child’s development, from babies through to Pre-School.

Children enjoy a fully enclosed garden, a calming sensory room, and a soft-play area to support safe outdoor play, gentle discovery, and active movement. Every space is designed with your child’s happiness, safety, and well-being in mind, supported by dedicated practitioners who encourage children to feel secure and flourish at their own pace.

We offer a full menu cooked by our nursery chefs for mealtimes, where children not only eat delicious food, but also learn manners and social skills. Our Nursery Practitioners sit with the children to encourage conversation and proper manners, while also making mealtimes fun.

Activities and Learning

At Abbey Wood Grange, Whyteleafe, children are encouraged to explore, create, and discover, helping them develop confidence, curiosity, and independence every day. Children enjoy varied outdoor play in our gardens and well-staffed outdoor areas that support physical skills and engagement with nature.

Each room opens onto age-appropriate outdoor spaces with climbing equipment, sandpits, and plenty of room to run. Sensory and vegetable gardens give children the chance to discover and engage with the world. Self-directed play is balanced with gentle, guided activities introducing early literacy, numeracy, and social skills.

Communication With Parents

We know sending your child to nursery is a big step. Which is why we keep you closely connected through Tapestry, our online learning journal where you can view photos, videos, and updates on meals, sleep, and activities. Parents’ Evenings twice a year offer one-to-one time with your child’s key worker, helping you feel confident, informed, and involved in your child’s development.

Two smartphone screens displaying the Tapestry app interface are shown. The left screen shows a child's artwork observation, while the right shows a care diary entry. The background is a soft purple with the word "Apps" and a Tapestry logo.

What Our Parents Say

Both my son and daughter have attended Abbey Wood Grange from 1 year old and 5 months (now 5 and 4 years old) and have loved attending this great nursery. From seeing them progress through the different stages you can see a great connection between the staff and the children and my children have both been extremely happy here. Thanks to all the management and staff for making this nursery such a wonderful place.

Overall Experience:  Abbey wood gardens

My son attends Abbey Wood Grange Day Nursery two days a week and he absolutely loves it there. He is so content he doesn't even notice when we leave him there very early each morning. The staff are a delight, so caring, attentive and friendly. When my son is at nursery I am never worried as I know that he is in very safe hands. Big thank you. They are outstanding.

Review from Christian (Father of Child)
Overall Experience:  Abbey wood gardens

The facilities at Abbey Wood Grange Day Nursery were the main draw for me, as well as the proximity to the train station making the commute to London quick and easy after drop off. I’ve since been really impressed with the management team and the rapport they build with everyone at Abbey Wood.

Overall Experience:  Abbey wood gardens

I highly recommend Abbeywood. My son has attended for over 2 years and loves it so much he doesn't ever want to leave! It is like one big family and that is down to the amazing staff. Everyone there works so hard to make sure your child has the best experience possible. It is run so well and the communication is brilliant. My son is well prepared for school life and I can't thank everyone at Abbeywood enough for the last 2 years.
